Adachi City is surrounded by rivers on all sides including the Arakawa,
with the riches of the riverbank and prominent parks creating an environment
rich in nature. It is also home to many historical sites such as Senjujuku,
an old post station town, and the temple Nishi Arai Daishi. In earlier
days Adachi, with its abundant water, was a farming community growing
mostly rice. In recent years however, it has steadily become more
residential. With universities relocating and a new railway running
through, it has been transformed into a hub of activity where the
young gather, fast becoming a city of art and culture.
