| Overview | A memorial monument set up in Senju Ohashi park where Matsuo Basho is said to have written a haiku about the beginning of his 2400km-journey, "Narrow Road to the Deep North." In March 1689, Matsuo Basho went up to Senju (Adachi City) by boat from Fukagawa (Koto Ward) accompanied by his disciples and left for Mutsu. In Basho's haiku journey "Narrow Road to the Deep North", there are some poems written about the scene of Senju, the place of his departure.
