Overview | It is said to have been built in 1532. The temple is dedicated to Amitabha triad, image of Amitabha Buddha and two attendants, Kannon and Mahasthamaprapta. Taishi-do hall enshrined Prince Shotoku, is the only hall in Adachi, which is said to have been founded around 1711~16. (Adachi registered tangible cultural property). The hall is a valuable building with a half-hipped pantile roof, which has elaborate structural element of interlocking wooden brackets, arch shaped beams and lion's nose shaped head rail etc. In the hall, there is a coffered ceiling with paintings of flowers, birds and portraits drawn on each of 90 squares. The Prince Shotoku statue is enshrined in the central altar. On the 22nd of New Year, May, September every year, Taishi lectures are held by temple supporters, neighborhood construction workers and carpenters. |
