Senju-juku history Petit terrace
Name of facility | Senju-juku history Petit terrace |
Overview | This used to be a storehouse with a thick mud wall of Yokoyama Family, a hand-made paper wholesaler located in Senju 4-chome. It was moved and reconstructed here in 1993. The two-story building with a width of 5 meters and 6 meters in depth was used as a storehouse connected with the main house. The building tag tells us that it was built in March 1830. For the maintenance of the petit terrace, we received donations, such as a garden rock as well as a storehouse from Yokoyama Family, a stone lantern with a height of 2.4 meters from Yamazaki Family in Senju 2-chome, and a heavy rock from Hikawa-jinja Shrine located in Senju 4-chome. It is managed by the local supporting member of Senju-juku history petit terrace society, and is used for mini exhibitions etc. (It is opened only when there is an exhibition). |
