Tozen-ji temple

Name of facility Tozen-ji temple
Overview Hanamatayama Saikou-in Tozen-ji temple is one of two Ji sect temples in Adachi City. Although the foundation date is not certain, according to the inscription of the plate monuments left in the temple, it was said to be founded in the middle of the 14th century by the 3rd holy priest of Ogen-ji temple which is another temple of Ji sect. The principal deity is the statue of Amida Nyorai. The plate monument inscribed six characters of Namu Amida Buddha in front of the main hall was excavated in 1942 and was considered valuable material left in its complete form, and it is registered as a tangible cultural asset of Adachi. In the precincts there is Ibo-Jizo or stone statue that is believed to have a wart-removing spirit, which has been widely worshipped as a wonder-working Jizo. First, placing salt on the Jizo, and kneading the salt and the stone powder scraped from the stone statue with water, and then putting it on a wart. You will be able to get rid of a wart. It was a well known belief and, consequently, Jizo only remains the base with 50 centimeters in diameter like a small block of stone.
