Overview | Batosan Zenkyu-ji temple is the Hongan-ji school of Jodo Shinshu sect. The temple is dedicated to Amida Nyorai. It was founded by a son of Zenkyuji Ryojo, who worked hard to open Hamacho Gobo (current Tsukiji Honganji temple). When Hamacho Gobo relocated to Tsukiji, the temple also followed it as one of Tsukiji temples. Afterward the temple suffered from the Great Kanto Earthquake. According to the reconstruction plan of Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the temple moved here from Tsukiji in 1927.
