| Overview | Shogetsuzan Rinsyoin Jisshoji is a Jodo sect temple. It is said to have been founded by the 5th high priest of Zojoji temple in 1505. The main statue of Amitabha is said to be made by ESHIN sozu. The statue of Acala beside the main statue is believed to be the main deity of Rengeji temple which was merged into Jisshoji temple in the Meiji period. When the 2nd shogun, TOKUGAWA hidetada and the 3rd Iemitsu visited the temple, they authorized the temple to build a vermilion gate and to use the Tokugawa family crest. In the graveyards, there are many gravestones or stone monuments of notables, including Japanese mathematicians, a Confucian, painter and teacher, a father of Western Laundry Service, a trumpeter and so on. |
