TAMBOURIN CURRY & BAR

One of the characteristics of Sri Lankan curry is that the curry and side dish are served on a plate and mixed together. "I liked the fact that there is more than one flavor," says owner Nagata Yuki. Nagata, who also plays in a band, said he saw potential in curry, which has a high degree of freedom, just like music.

The signature dish, "Today's Sri Lankan Curry," is a coconut-based adaptation of Sri Lankan flavor, with an exquisite balance of aromatic spices and side dishes with a variety of flavors and textures. The basmati rice used is fragrant and subdued, enhancing the flavor of the curry and side dishes.

There are also many dishes that go well with alcoholic beverages and snacks, and Nagata recommends white wine. It seems that many customers enjoy curry with alcohol not only in the evening, but also at lunch.

Since setting up his shop in 2015, sister restaurants Biryani Shokudo and Devil Curry have opened in Kita-Senju, and the flavors that Nagata creates have captivated spice lovers.

Today's Sri Lankan curry is 1,925 yen. The ingredients change depending on the season, and the main ingredient on this day is pacific saury.
Eggplant mojus (680 yen) is deep-fried eggplant mixed with spices, and is also recommended for mixing with curry.
"We value the interactions we have with our customers through curry," says Nagata.

Cafe Allende & Currysha

Located on the side of the approach to Toneri Hikawa Shrine, this shop opened in 2020. It originally started as a coffee shop and later added curry to the menu.

"A friend of mine taught himself how to make curry and perfected the taste after visiting many different restaurants," says owner Setsya Kakinuma. The "Chicken 2 Spicy" is an Osaka-style spice curry made with bonito broth and has a delicious flavor that goes well with the spices.

Another specialty is the Cuban sandwich, which was invented when the restaurant first opened. It is an adaptation of a flavor that Kakinuma had while traveling, and is popular with families with children who don't like spicy food and can't eat curry.

The homemade desserts are also popular. If you add a salad, cake, and drink to the luxurious three-item set for 880 yen, you'll have a very satisfying lunch or cafe time.

Chicken 2 spicy is 990 yen. A set with prosciutto and arugula salad and a drink is an additional 660 yen.
Cuban Special: 825 yen. The balance of roast pork, pickles, and grilled cheese is irresistible.
A popular strawberry cheesecake. The fruits used in the cake change depending on the season.

The restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, from light snacks to low-temperature cooked meat dishes.

There are also other dishes not to be missed, such as Genghis Khan curry, which changes every few months. It's fun to choose, and it's sure to add to the fun of your next visit.
