TRiP Rakugo x Ukiyo-e 3rd Theme: Samurai
2023年11月4日 6:30 PM-8:30pm
November is the month of “Samurai”. There is a theory that 11 is written in kanji as "ten" and "one", and when written vertically it becomes "shi" (bushi, samurai), and another theory that it comes from the way a samurai carries two swords. It seems that. No matter what you say, if you imagine a samurai standing in the clear November air, it looks dignified and cool. Therefore, this time's theme is "Samurai", which is closely related to the calendar.
So, what kind of samurai appear in Rakugo and Ukiyo-e? Is it strong? ! Is it dignified? ! Or...
Let's all try TRiP together this time, looking forward to seeing what kind of samurai we'll meet!
What is TRiP, a rakugo show where rakugo performers and ukiyo-e meet?
Aoma Yanagiya (rakugo storyteller), Akira Watanabe (curator of the Ota Memorial Museum of Art), and Shan Honya (planner) came together to create the rakugo series "TPiP", where rakugo and ukiyo-e meet. Each time we decide on a theme, Yanagiya Aoma will give a rakugo story, and Watanabe Akira will give an ukiyo-e lecture, and the two will intertwine rakugo and ukiyo-e in their talks.
The venue was the approximately 100-year-old Nakacho House located in Senju, a post town from the Edo period.
The collaboration between Rakugo and Ukiyo-e, both born in the Edo period, will take you on an imaginative journey through time!
