A small tea ceremony at a cultural property house ~Tomizawa House commemorating its registration as a "National Registered Tangible Cultural Property"~
June 15
There is a lovely old house in a quiet area a short walk from the east exit of Kita-Senju Station.
The Tomizawa residence was just declared a nationally registered tangible cultural property in March.
Built in Hashiba, Asakusa during the Edo period, this building was once the secondary residence of a samurai retainer, and it has been passed down to this day after being relocated twice.
On the day, you will be guided around the main house, which is a nationally registered tangible cultural property, by the architect involved in the registration. Afterwards, you will enjoy tea and sweets while listening to a talk by Yaeko Tomizawa (a tea ceremony instructor) who lives in the house.
*No knowledge of tea ceremony is required. Please feel free to wear casual attire. Kimono is also welcome.
